Presets

Save routing configuration once and reference it from requests by slug, optionally pinned to a version.

A preset is a saved, versioned set of request settings, such as a model, fallbacks and provider preferences. Requests reference it by slug instead of repeating the configuration.

Reference a preset

Python
response = client.chat.completions.create(
    model="openai/gpt-5.4-nano",
    messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Classify this ticket."}],
    extra_body={"preset": "support-triage"},
)
ValueResolves to
"support-triage"The preset's active version.
"support-triage:3"Version 3, pinned.

The preset is merged into the request before validation, so it can supply model, models, provider or cache settings. The preset field itself is never sent to the provider.

Errors

StatusErrorCause
400invalid_requestpreset is not a string, or not slug or slug:version.
404preset_not_foundNo such preset or version in this workspace.

Caching and replay

The resolved preset slug and version are part of response-cache and idempotency identity, so changing a preset's active version never serves a response produced under another version.
